Terms of service
Last updated 16 September 2026
These terms apply to the MCGI Lift pilot, a private service that helps approved adults coordinate scheduled volunteer rides. By using the service, you agree to these terms and the current privacy and member-conduct notices shown in the app.
Eligibility and account access
Members and non-members may apply. You must be an approved adult participant and use your own authorized Google or Apple account. Keep your sign-in credentials private, provide accurate information, and tell the support team if you believe your account or device has been compromised. Access may remain pending, be limited, or be withdrawn when eligibility cannot be verified or safety and conduct rules are not met.
Volunteer ride coordination
MCGI Lift coordinates introductions and trip details between members. It is not a taxi, rideshare-for-hire, transport operator, emergency-response service, or live-monitoring service. Drivers remain responsible for their licence, vehicle, insurance, fitness to drive, road-law compliance, and decisions about whether a trip can proceed safely. Passengers and drivers may cancel when a ride cannot be completed safely.
No payments
The service does not permit fares, tips, reimbursements, subscriptions, driver earnings, or other payments for a coordinated ride. Members must not use MCGI Lift to solicit payment or operate a commercial transport service.
Safe and respectful use
- Use the service only for approved ride coordination and provide truthful trip details.
- Respect privacy and do not share another member's details outside the confirmed ride.
- Do not harass, discriminate against, threaten, impersonate, or endanger another person.
- Do not bypass access controls, misuse reports, scrape data, or interfere with the service.
- Contact local emergency services first if anyone is in immediate danger.
Location, messages, and member content
Accepting these terms at signup includes automatic location sharing for ride coordination. With device permission, your latest position is shared with your confirmed driver or passenger from ride confirmation until the ride ends, while the app is open. Sharing pauses when the app leaves the foreground and resumes when you return to an eligible ride. Drivers who go online also share their availability with nearby passengers and authorized operations staff. Device permission is still required; the app does not track in the background. There is no additional location-sharing acceptance step for each ride. Creating a trusted-contact trip-progress link remains optional. Messages, reports, profile details, and other information you submit must be relevant, accurate, lawful, and safe to share. You grant the service permission to process that information only as needed to provide, secure, and review the pilot as described in the privacy policy.
Messages and moderation
Harassment, threats, hate speech, sexually explicit content, exploitation, and illegal content are prohibited. Trip chat applies an automated text filter before delivery; it cannot detect every abusive message. Use “Report or block” in chat to send a private report to the safety team. Blocking stops further messages between the participants and prevents future matching; it does not cancel an existing trip. Trip details, cancellation, and safety help remain available. Reports are reviewed through the restricted safety queue; moderators can restrict access and preserve narrowly scoped evidence. For support, contact [email protected]. This is not emergency monitoring.
Availability and pilot changes
The pilot may be changed, paused, or withdrawn to address safety, legal, operational, or technical needs. Matches, driver availability, uninterrupted access, and completion of any ride are not guaranteed. Important changes to these terms will be dated and presented through the service before continued use where renewed acceptance is required.
Questions and support
For questions about these terms, email [email protected]with “MCGI Lift terms” in the subject line. Do not send passwords, authentication codes, identity documents, boarding PINs, or exact ride locations by ordinary email.
